Fri 4 Jul – UNLIMITED ENTHUSIASM EXPO

I HAD A BETTER 4TH OF JULY THAN YOU DID. THIS IS NOT A JOKE AS I HAD THE BEST FOURTH OF JULY EVER. POSSIBLY EVEN THE BEST DAY IN JULY EVER. MAYBE THE BEST DAY IN 2008. It is because I went to CAMP JUMP AND YELL.

I would like to recount the glorious experience for you right now:

First of all, I went with Amberagogo and we were all, "No you drive." "But I drove to Gogol Bordello." "Uggghh..." And it was decided that she should drive even though we had to go on I-4 (which really isn't that bad and we were only on for a mile. I've drove that sucker for 20 miles but that's another trip). When we got to Ybor city I realized that Amber put that wrong address in the GPS so we ended up at a cabaret called Ybor Secrets. So, we put in the correct address and found CROWBAR (which is owned by Harry and the Potters' cousin). We drove around until we found some relatively cheap parking and then walked to the best night of my life. At the door, Paul DeGeorge (Harry Potter Year 7) greeted us and asked if we'd like name tags which, of course, we did. Since it was the fourth of July, he was making everyone patriotic. I was Susan B. Anthony and Amber was Amber Waves of Grain.

Once inside we were greeted by a large table of free cupcakes and wands and face painting and voter registration and house elf hat raffles and inflatable dragons/lobsters/monkeys and LOTS AND LOTS OF TOTALLY AWESOME PEOPLE. Amber went to go buy a beer while I bought a t-shirt. We sat outside (because there was an outside place, too) until we heard that the first band was starting.

Or so we thought.

We went inside and we led in a pledge of allegiance to the show (which was crazy, I filmed it and will post it later) and then we all sang the Unlimited Enthusiasm Theme Song. Then, omg, this was crazy fun, ALBUS DUMBLEDORE came out and rapped! no joke! I filmed this too. It was soooo great. Then Uncle Monsterface was up.

Uncle Monsterface is a hand puppet rock show. It was soooo geeky. They sang songs about DND, Super Mario Brothers, and a giant monkey riding a unicorn WITH RAINBOWS SHOOTING OUT OF IT'S EYES across space. This required audience participation of screaming every time the inflatable monkey touched you. Soooo fun. They also had a challenge for an audience member (known as Abe Lincoln but he was really a little boy) to complete the first level of Mario before the song "Sorry, your princess is in another castle" was completed. He did marvelously. They also covered Like a Prayer and Uncle Monsterface HIMSELF came out in his Pope garb and danced. It was scary and awesome.

After Uncle Monsterface was Math, The Band and omgomgomgomg, HOLY CHRIST, THE HOTTEST KEYBOARDIST EVER, YOU GUYS! NO REALLY. THIS GIRL WAS CUTE INCARNATE. SHE WAS THE EYE DROPS OF ADORABLE. Annnnnd she was squeaky like me which is awesome. I've never met anyone else who has a squeaky voice like me. Ahhhh, she was so cute. Math, The Band was really nerdtacular. I was dancing with Uncle Monsterface for a lot of their set and the rest of the time I was swooning over the keyboardist.

AND THEN Harry and the Potters! HARRY AND THE FRAKKING POTTERS, GUYS! I could've died from the happy. They were soooo good. God, they are so amazing live. They kept coming down from the stage and there was a lot of audience participation and most of the videos I took you can hear me singing along which is embarrassing but whatever, man, it was sooooo GREAT. Did you know their drummer is Ringo Weasley? He is. He was good, too. It was really all so incredible, I can't even describe it.

After their set finished they came back for an encore and then all of the bands came up and we all sang America The Beautiful and Born in the U.S.A. and chanted U.S.A and I've never been terribly patriotic but MAN, IT WAS THE BEST NIGHT EVER TO BE AMERICAN. God, it was soooo good. After that we sang the UEE08 theme again and then it was over.

I got a polaroid with the Potter boys and then was all nervous and stuff but i got a photo with the hot keyboardist and now we're friends on myspace, ahhhh. We bought more stuff and I made really fast friends with the merch girl, Emily because she liked my necklace and what's more is she knew what it was! The Tree of Life. Oh, man. So awesome. Then we basically floated to Amberagogo's car and drove back to Spring Hill and went to Denny's where we sat behind the most obnoxiously American guy EVER. He was basically George Dubyah's BFF, you know? But it was okay because we were still SO ENTHUSED from the show. Then we went to Amber's house and watched a Scientology DVD she had swiped when we were in Ybor until we couldn't take the crazy anymore and went to sleep.
