Band Of Horses... I cannot remember. I guess I listened to "The Funeral" at a Podcast and am ever since in love with them.

Sure. Death Cab For Cutie's "The Sound Of Setteling" makes me sing almost every time I listen to it.

From Stars it's "A Thread Cut With A Carving Knife"

8. What is a good memory you have involving 30?
Oh I remember a friend telling me about that young guy (RuRu), writing these sad songs. They were all pretty sad, but on the other hand I felt proud that such a young an can write such deep and thoughtful lyrics. And is able to play the guitar ;)

Damien Rice? Uhm, these songs are all sad, but I quite like some. Couldn't say they make me happy though...

Have seen The Wombats once, and it was fanfuckingtastic!

Elbow... that must have been either "Leaders Of The Free World" or "Forget Myself". Guess it was the last one.

Cassadaga is my fave from Bright Eyes.

Yes, saw Jose Gonzalez in Ludwigshafen. Was brilliant :)

Back to Basics

I know, it's a title of an album of Christina Aguilera. But I'm talking more or less about my basics of listening to music. Back in the good ole days when I was young there were cassettes. My first album I bought was "Queen - The Miracle" on a cassette. Thank God my older brother had the CD.

Well, after the cassette there were CD's. I was sitting hours in front of my CD-Radio-Cassette player, listening to my albums, and my brothers albums.
Later in 1998 my player "died" and I had to get a new one.

The new one was from dual. It even has a remote control! That was a bliss for me. I could listen to music even when I was in bed, and I could skip! My dual player even notices when a song on a cassette is over. Back then that was amazing for me! I could create ma own "fall asleep" mixtapes, and when I was bored of a song, I ff'd to the next one.

This player is still alive, now in my kitchen, on my fridge. Listening to "In Rainbows" with that player is even better than listening with my Dolby Surround System. It's like back in the old days, when you bought a CD and you sometimes did not know what to expect, cause someone recommended it to you, or listening to the new album of your favourite band, reeading the booklet and the lyrics while you listen to every single song.

That dual player won my heart again. The remote control is not working anymore, but still... it works! And the bass works, and the sounds of music are not only in my kitchen, the dual has such a good sound, I can even hear it in the living room.

So, not that much scrobbeling from me these next days... I'm in love with CD's and real machines again...

I listened to this song the first time last Friday when A Hundred Million Suns were in my post box (I wonder how they fit in there...). A friend here told me that he thinks that song is "Der Abriss" which I didn't get first, but after listening I knew what he meant.

The style of the song is so not Snow Patrol, and a lover of the band, I dare to say that. I cannot really describe it, but listening first time to it, I got goosebumps. Ah well. It reflects a lot on what happended these last years and the last 50.000 songs on last.fm.

I found some great people here that love music as much as I do (maybe even more). Some of them I met in person, and to meet some more is a work in progress. I listened to more than I could imagine.
When I signed up here, I was in a Snow Patrol fever (like I am now) and couldn't stop. But I had to take a break after a while, cause there was nothing new from the band, and the old songs were slightly "overplayed".
In the meantime I disovered a lot of great bands and musicians, or found old ones that I had forgotten.

Some people here kind of "challenged" me to listen more, and to listen to more different styles. Though I have to say I am still not converted to a certain style of female singer/songwriters ;) Some recommended music to me that I fell in love with, and some was worth a listen. But just a. And some people thanked me for the music I made them listen to or concerts I told them are worthy to go to.

It was always a lot of fun, and it will be. Right today came the news that Snow Patrol will play a concert in Berlin pretty soon. I'm not there yet, and there are some barricades I need to overcome, but I'm sure it will work out.

So, up to more music, wonderful friends, lovely concerts and the next 50.000 songs.
