so i just got back from the Lucero show at the mercy lounge, and it fucking rocked my socks off. the guitarist got a little too tipsy and took off his shirt by the end of the show, and by the end of the night was passed out drunk on the couch in the back room (of course not before unloading the insides of his stomach into the closest trash can). it, i would have to say, was the best damn rock show i have ever seen. but, not even that compares to having your drunk boss drive you home. good times, great memories, awesome show, i love music...

oh and i just want to give a shout out to the The Glass, especially the lead singer, i meant what i said, great set, i enjoyed it thoroughly, but not as much as you i bet, keep rocking, because it's what i live for.

just reading pitchfork here at work and the latest Resonant Frequency Column had a line that really took hold with me "What's normal is simply what we are used to." Mark Richardson is simply talking about the look of panic that he feels appears on his dog's expression when he removes the it's collar. "what we are used to" that phrase really its home. whenever i hear the words good or bad, normal or strange, i imagine all these are just byproducts of how all of us interpret the world around us. and keeping that in mind, we could all be more tolerant of things we either don't understand or think is right. obviously there are some definitive answers for what is good and bad, but i am merely talking about taste and how we perceive the world and how we feel others should perceive the world. thats it

oh and Tapes 'n Tapes still fucking rule.

Its Saturday Night...
Does anyone else feel like they woke up to a diffent world this morning. Now there was mention of "chance of snow" earlier in the week, but come on, i've been colder in june than i was at all in the past few days, imagine in the rockin chair on the porch half-empty bottle of Jack tucked in my short-sleeved arm straw hat throwing checkers of shade on my face with Miles Davis gently blowin over the breeze from a cracked tape deck held together with duct tape.

So Yo La Tengo is playing in the background, specifically Deeper Into Movies, for everyone who would be interested to know that, and i dont really care so probably zero. but anyway its playing and it brings a sense of longing that there is some minor decision i should make about something that i have no clue how to uncover. have no fear everyone, i do know how to fix it, enter Mind Is Evil, now all i remember is if i make it to tomorro i am happy. recently i was visting the (fuck i cant figure out how to link the page) I Hate Bush group, or something like that, but i am ever amazed at how stupid some people are, or ignorant other people are, and i am always reconvinced of how predictable people are. people post stupid, bullshit things, so other people who are convinced they can prove a point over a post will respond and makean ass out of themselves. no one proves a point over a post. no matter how intellectually plotted and logically ordered your argument is, there will still be people who do not have the capacity to concede to reason. lets face it at least half the population is made up of women.

i'm sorry, the end of the last paragraph was a joke, honestly. i have only the upmost respect for all women, except for strippers, slightly, mere sligths, less respect for strippers. i can;t stop, again i apologize, i have respect for strippers, equal respect that i share with all the homeless, executive, blue collar, managerial, psychotic, retarded, average peoples, now on with my origianl statement. there are Fucking Idiots in the world, just go read a post where someone actually tries to refute that man, humans we are talking abouts humans, destroys the atmosphere or contributes in any way to something i beleive referred to as global warming, GLOBAL WARMING, that there is no evidence of glabal warming. yeah, and i am still convinced the billions we spent on NASA for a fake moon landing was spent on astronauts learning how to play golf at zero G's. i like a good conspiracy theory just as much as the next guy, but come on.

morons talking about the earth like an infinte resource wears on me. i think i need I'd Like To Hurt You, to temper me, much better, off i drift in violence. i need to touch on The Evens for a moment. something about their The Evens record that almost completely satisfies me. for a week straight that became THE fallback record. any 10 second gap that wnt by in silence would be followed by Shelter Two, until i used my noodle to figure out what i wanted next to tingle my auditory god. oh i got it Frontier Psychiatrist its the best, like scrambling my head while im scrambling eggs. but what after this, i just got The Horror, i think that is a good entree after having my appetite wet by The Avalanches, dont you guys think?

we watched 'The Emperors Club" today, it suuuuuucked. with a capitol s. the only thing it succeded in doing was convincing me that ebert, and whatever his sidekick say, is less useful than a parrot in deciding which movies are worth a damn. maybe they are just trying to do a good job, when i work i tell people James Blunt is good, i don't think hes good, but boy he is popular. i just try to be nice, they aren't asking for my opinion, they just want to be reinforced into thinking they are making a good purchase. people who care ask you what you yourslef listen to. then they realize that i learned about music by reading telephone poles. thats when they nod their head, smile, and think "ok now what do i say?" i know, because thats what i think when they say, do you like the new Mars Volta, uhh its good ;) here, how about sufjan stevenSufjan Stevens, i think its really good, go on, take it, i know it looks daunting, lots of songs, bright blue, theres a suit on it, very scary, but trust me, plus every other independent, and hell dependent critic, its not bad.

are there any Pretty Girls Make Graves fans out there, any of you heard the new album, apparently last.fm hasn't, but its out there. love the single, "the nocturnal house", haven't spent any significant time with the rest of it, but its sounds intriguing. whereas the first album grabbed you by the throat and never let go. the second stewed in its oown juices and aged as you listened, Elan Vital seems to burrow deep waiting for you to find it, we'll see what happens when i can dig out that shell. and real fast, since i touched on folk earlier with Sufjan Stevens i want to recommend next time you find yourself wasting on a boring beautiful saturday afternoon, throw The Milk-Eyed Mender on the record player, keep the treble at a low level at first. clip your toenails or something to occupy your head, but listen, and you'll find a beautiful squawking world 2 decibels and a minutes worth of patience away.

last thing... The Walkmen i love you. if i had a girlfriend, she could have your baby, cross my heart X, hope to die! cant wait to hear the new material, im sure i will love it all as always.

too much love to a boy band. The Veronicas listened to your advance album at work friday, reminded me of high school, of the kind of music your friends hot girlfriend with the short attention span would like. but it doesn't matter whether or not you care for her tastes, because you'll listen to anything she'll shake her body too.

why do pennies taste like blood to me?

so The Knife just released a soothing yet extremely forbidding and haunting piece of music. its strange when your the 77 1/3 person to use the term haunting to describe Silent Shout, but what can i say, its haunting. With so much happening in the world of techno/electronica its hard to a)keep up b)decifer between the balanced, excting new material and the painfully regergitated shit that seems to breed from deep uniform bass lines and chirpy keyboards that form a call and response. it might even be fun if not for the crammed sound that comes from trying shove all the music through a synthesizer until all thats left are chirpy bass lines and uniform keyboards. supposedly this Mylo has promise, from the little i have heard i am intrigued, but without the visceral experience of headphones, well as visceral as i'll get until i can go to a show, DestroyRock&Roll will just have to wait for my final decree.

speaking of decrees, i decree the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah need to put out some new material that i can get my hands on, i am starting to embarrass myself (not that its hard) but when you sing every line of every song like your trying to sing the national anthem after a fifth of hennesy at 2 a.m with more coke in your system than tony montana, i think its time to find something new. of courrse it could be worse, i could be talking about The Arcade Fire, theres no telling how many people think i have an older brother named alexander. but back to the topic at hand, their whole album affects me like a shot of heroin, granted Clap Your Hands, little bit stronger than heroin, but my god, equally addictive. oh, speaking of addictive, and singing, TV on the Radio have a little song called Dreams, anyone who wants to show that they flow, find those lyrics, i suggest http://www.lyrics-songs.com but whatever you want, crank up the volume sit through the first three minutes and 30 seconds then for that last 1:30, let loose, its refreshing, i dont know why but it is. its the kind of song that i would play on repeat driving nowhere extremely fast while forgetting where i was coming from.

its getting late and with the creeping sun moving towards my horizon, work looming... uh 10 hours away, god its like Mylo says "motherfuckers gonna drop the pressure", its time to go to bed. and with that ever crushing pressure weighing on my head its getting closer and closer to its place on my unfluffed pillow. feather pillows are nice, but you never think about the work involved. oh one more quick thing, plan to see Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at the Exit/In this Friday the 24th, but thats not what i wanted to mention. what i wanted to mention was i got a copy of The Black Magic Show at work today, it was, it was not making me look forward to seeing them open for BRMC. and well that sucks, of course i dont think i have ever even seen a show where the opening act was better than the headliner, but then again the only show i have ever gone to where my main reason was to see the opener, instead of the main act was when Stars opened for Death Cab for Cutie, but hell, i didnt even make it(fucking work). i got to walk up the magnificent marble steps about thirty minutes after the show was supposed to start, thinking, cool ill still catch some of it. wrong, the show started on time (btw WTF is that? a rock show starting on time, never heard of that in nashville before)and Stars was saying thank you and good night when i arrived.

Death Cab was good (yes i stayed, but just to make my ticket actually worthy of purchase) and i was surprised, Death Cab was enjoyable, they played very few new songs which was nice, i got to drink which was very nice, and at the end of the show i ended up handing out 2 or 3 fags to a couple of very nice, albeit giggly, fifteen year old girls, i guess i cant blame them for being giggly, they were fifteen after all.(in all honesty i have no idea how old they were, but they didnt seem like they planned on buying ciggarettes at the corner store) but dammit if one girl doesn't build up the courage to ask for a smoke, then all of her friends decide they have the courage to come surround me and all i here is "hehe can i have a cig..""hehe can i have one..?" "yes" yes to you and to you and to you. now go hit on a boy your own age and let me develop lung cancer in peace. hell i cant even find privacy at a fucking rock concert, what is the world coming too? if only i could go back to 7th grade where my largest concern was having enough time to play starcraft on a full stomach of bagel bites, haha and i wasnt even good. hmm that sounds good, but looking back sex also wasnt a big issue at 13. but if i think about it even further, life was a lot less complicated without sex, only it was just... you know... boring.

look at me now, close your eyes
