2004: Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane
2005: U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
2006: Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
2007: Coldplay - X & Y
2008: Bright Eyes - Cassadaga
2009: Led Zeppelin - II

*2009 subject to change..... it IS only may after all. Nothing new has blown me away yet. I've had Led Zeppelin II in my car CD player for about a month and it hasn't gotten old yet (it never will!).

I like how, on a lot of these, it's the year AFTER the album came out that it became my personal "Album of the Year..." although sometimes its 'cause the album came out late in the year prior (2002 for example, "Jimmy Eat World" came out in Sept 2001).
Also, note my random J-Pop craze in 2003. I dabbled a bit before and after but I'm pretty sure 2003 was my apex, and i LOVED this album...

[as of 4/2/09]. The 5th album is my rotating spot for the album I am completely obsessed with at the moment but hasn't been promoted into the big 4.

The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
Key tracks: Gimme Shelter: come on. Its one of my favorite songs of all time. Need I say more?
Also, Country Honk is just fun to listen to, give Monkey Man a spin, and You Can't Always Get What You Want provides a life lesson we should all take to heart.

Pearl Jam - Ten
Key tracks: Even Flow, Alive: yes they are the singles but they are just SO GOOD...
Once in your life you need to drive down the freeway at 6am with this album turned up super loud and your windows down.

Bright Eyes - Cassadaga
Key track: If The Brakeman Turns My Way: something about the production of this song catches me up in it every. single. time.
If I had to do away with any song on the album it would be Soul Singer In A Session Band because the tempo can get a little tiresome after a while, but I still like the lyrics in that song so its not bad.

U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
Key tracks: ALL OF THEM! Okay, I have to pick a couple. Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own is another one of my favorite songs of all time. Yaweh is pretty powerful too, and City Of Blinding Lights will catch you up in the swell of the moment.
It was really hard for me to pick a U2 album here, but I knew they had to be in the big four. I picked this one because it came out at a crazy time in my life, my first year of college and all that. I knew I loved U2 before I heard this album, but really there are no missteps here. Every song is solid. Perfect album.

Key track: This Mess We're In: Thom Yorke from Radiohead makes an appearance. There are many artists that have no scrobbles on my last.fm because I only own their albums on LP, and have no CD or digital versions of their music. I'm writing this as a little homage to them, because its sad to me that they are grossly underrepresented in my statistics. (I'm a bit of a statistics freak... as long as I don't have to compile them myself).

Here are just five that I listen to a LOT and have next to no presence on my charts...
