Neon Indian at Prince Bandroom, St Kilda on 24 Feb 2012

Location: Prince Bandroom

Neon Indian is the brainchild of Alan Palomo, who's 2009 debut record Psychic Chasms not only assisted the forming of a genre that, though known by a few names now (hypnagogic pop, glo-fi, chillwave), summoned a very unique and specific electro-mangled sound. Music critics praised Palomo for his adventurous new sound, and he was tapped to perform at various festivals and also scored opening slots for bands ranging from Massive Attack and The Flaming Lips to Phoenix.

After nearly two years on the road, this year Palomo released the LP Era Extraña, a darker shaded sound document that tosses somewhere between an 8-bit shoegaze record and peering through the fence of a teenage apocalypse drive-in flick. This summer Neon Indian bring their hynagogic-pop-glo-fi-chillwave back to Australia, playing a string of shows.

When performing, Palomo is joined on stage by a live band, consisting of Jason Faries (drums) and Leanne Macomber (keyboard, vocals).

Bon Iver at Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne on 8 Mar 2012

Location: Sidney Myer Music Bowl

Handsome Tours are delighted to announce the return of Bon Iver to Australian shores in March 2012 for three very special shows to celebrate the release of their highly-acclaimed, second full-length album, Bon Iver, Bon Iver (June 2011 via Jagjaguwar / Inertia).

Following a sold-out tour back in 2009, Handsome Tours are proud to present dates in Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane. Melbourne fans should take special note that they will have the opportunity to see the band’s astonishing live performance in the city’s premier outdoor venue, The Sidney Myer Music Bowl, whilst Adelaide and Brisbane will be treated to what’s predicted to be one of the most acclaimed tours to hit Australian shores in 2012 in the wonderful confines of the Thebarton Theatre & Tivoli respectively.

Crafted over three years, Bon Iver, Bon Iver debuted at No. 2 on the US and Australian charts, No. 4 in the UK, and No. 5 in New Zealand. The release received glowing reviews and solid airplay, including the coveted crown of a Triple J Feature Album. In the US, seminal music site Pitchfork rated the album 9.5 out of 10 and described it as “… flawless right up to its conclusion”.
