Hydralchemy, the highly anticipated follow up to 2005's Succumbra by the Finnish gothic dark metallers Vanguard, will be released in Finland on January 14th, 2009. The limited digipak edition includes ten fresh Vanguard tracks, and an alluring cover of Type O Negative's Black No. 1. Full tracks Spellbroken and Scion have been added to the band's MySpace, Last.fm and VF.

Vanguard gained fame by winning Wacken Open Air's band contest, which resulted in a recording contract and a number of high profile shows at Wacken, Tuska and around Russia.

The band, armed with a cello, enchanting female vocals and an aggressive masculine growl, will reactivate itself on stage as well. Vanguard has signed a booking contract with Sam Agency, which represents Poets of the Fall, Don Johnson Big Band, Hybrid Children and April among others.

Hydralchemy will be released in Finland by Shadow World Records and distributed by Supersounds Music. Release dates for the rest of the world will be published later.

After negotiating and screening through our options we're finally ready to sign with a new record label and to set a release date for Hydralchemy! We're officially signing the papers this week and we're also signing with a booking agency, which will hadle our gig front. The album will be released early next year around january/february. We'll keep you guys posted and come back with details as soon as we get the actual dates and sign the contracts!

The long wait is closing in on its end, the new album is being mixed
as we speak. Mixing will be done by this sunday and on the 27th when it's
mastered at Finnvox Studios by Minerva Pappi, skies will fall and by gods,
it will finally be finished. We're hoping to get it released soon after
that. Anyway we will give you some bits to chew on from the mixed
versions!

We've had a couple of good gigs, the New Year's gig in St. Petersburg
wasn't really a Vanguard gig without our Tonmi, who had a previously
booked gig with Ajattara at the same time, but we were happily back
together last Friday at the famous Tavastia club. The sounds are excellent
there on stage which really makes a difference, it was fun to play and
assumeably not such a travesty for the listeners ears, either. These two
were the first gigs without our pianist Lari, and I have to say it feels
weird. Still I'd like to say, for the millionth time, my ever grateful
thanks to Antti and Teemu for helping out (and getting adopted by us) at
Russia and for Janne of Waltari and Ajattara for helping out at Tavastia
with Deathstars. You all rock!! Next time we will probably have our new
6-piece live line-up up and operational, that'll be something completely
different. How ever, Lari as a brother-in-arms and as a band member will
never be replaced, and we wish him nothing but happiness and good luck on
his career. We miss you, bro!

But we'll post some more news soon, we should have something to tell in
the near future. In the meantime, here's some pictures from the Tavastia
