It's funny, music taste does change with time. You may still like what you listened to a few years ago, but the intensity or style of the music you listen to now is probably a little different. One of the bands that I think was ahead of their time in a lot of ways musically was Jane's Addiction and in particular the album Nothing's Shocking.

1. There is a real diverse style of music on this album. No question, you will hear alternative, SKA, jazz, and a little R&B.

2. The music is fun! It takes you to a place where things don't seem so complicated. Okay - I'm an older guy, but you younger folks will appreciate this one day! ;-)

3. Musical intelligence isn't measured by the riffs, beats, or catchy lyrics alone - it's the package. This album was the package, and still stands strong today.

Just my humble opinion - from a thrash/metal head!

Okay, just got back from a huge road trip that crossed the US. Went from KC to Las Vegas for a soccer tournament, back from Vegas to Colorado for skiing, and then back to KC. This road trip was 20 hours each way from KC. 10 hours from Vegas to Colorado - the place we went skiing.

So, when taking a road trip like this, you have to have a good mix of music, because if the wrong person takes over the radio/XM/CD player - you are screwed!

Here's some of the stuff we listened too - to bad you can't scrobble on the road! These are in no particular order...

AC/DC
Airbourne
Disturbed
Sevendust
Led Zepplin
Flyleaf
Megadeth
Metallica
Rush
Korn
Anthrax
Static-X

a few RAP artists...

Missy Elliott
Eminem
Fat Joe

and a couple that the driver's didn't care for, but for the peace of the ride...

Hannah Montana
Hillary Duff
Avril Lavigne
Rhianna

We also had XM radio and a few Rhapsody players full of other random noise!

Okay - this is way off the type of music I listen too - however, i have kids, and I took them to see the movie. Interesting, and somewhat of a disappointment...

Don't get me wrong - Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, and the Jonas Brothers are talented teens. The band that is backing them are top notch talented musicians. I have no problem with any of that aspect of the entertainment. I actually hope they succeed for some time without scandal.

The problem begins with the value placed on this entertainment. It's $15 US to go see the movie, in REALD/3D, that is part concert part backstage reality of being Hannah Montana. The Jonas Brothers, who are talented, are nothing but fill in the movie to give you the idea of what happens when Hannah becomes Miley. Yes - you get to see the "double" that we've all read about - such scandal! Quite frankly, I could care less that they have a double at that time...it takes nothing away from the show. My bet is, live it takes nothing away either!

The 3D effects are great. The only irritating thing is the number of times you see the cameras flash in front of the musicians. It's neat the first time, because you get a feel for the 3D - but the film editing after that should have done it less. It's neat to see the confetti flying, and there are a few items thrown towards the camera to give you the feeling you need to duck out of the way!

To me, the value was about $6 US, because it's not a full concert. It is edited with only the most heard songs being played. The Jonas Brothers only sing two of their hits, and leave the stage. It's probably good this only runs one week - it would not be able to carry further. We went on SuperBowl night, no interest in the game, and the theater was almost all ours - maybe 20 people total in a room that would hold about 250. I have heard the other shows are sold out, but not here in KC, MO. To me, it's the fault of the Disney machine, not the fault of the entertainers. The hype is huge right now, and I can only hope the parents of these teens keep them grounded! We don't want to see good kids turn bad because of the hype!

Okay, the new year has brought out the worst in drivers on the road. I don't know what it is, but it seems the number of morons doing these things is growing! We need PaintBall marking guns mounted on cars so when these idiots do these things, we can mark 'em for others to know what they are up against.

1. Cell phone drivers - look Bluetooth headsets have been out for a long time. Congratulations, you can freakin' drive without hands. However, you can't operate your vehicle. You typically cut people off, coast out into the middle of intersections, and generally believe everyone else should stay out of your way!

2. Tailgators - all right, your in a big freakin' hurry, go around! But don't take it out on the person in front of you. One of these days you are going to go after the wrong person and they are going to mess you up.

3. Makup artists and Shavers - Okay, you are douche bags to begin with. What makes you think you are so important that you can't take the five minutes to put the paint on the barn at home, or get rid of that 3 day stubble you grew? The ones putting on makeup at least seem to know they shouldn't be doing that, but the shavers act like we are all supposed to be impressed that they are driving their sports car and shaving at the same time!

Okay, so the solution is, mount paint ball guns on the front of cars with a targeting system. When an idiot does one of these things - and maybe you have others - you mark 'em! It's better than causing harm, and you'll feel a lot better!

Got gripes with stupid drivers?
