Album Review : Impaled Northern Moonforest - S/t

I got into them again after a very long time. These guy are in my opinion, the best of USBM. Harnessing the power of a humble acoustic guitar and a keyboard to create the darkest of the black arts, that my friend is talent. I will provide a review of their self titled debut. I really cannot summarize the sheer greatness of the album into mere words.

Track 1 Grim And Frostbitten Moongoats of the North opens up with the ritualistic cry of a moongoat just before engaging in grim and frostbitten activities. It is followed by a catchy as fuck riff with drums tighter than a virgin moongoat's vagina. The vocals are at their excellence here, just check 0:36

Track 2 Forlorned Invocations of Blasphemous Congregations of Lusting Goat Sodomizing Satannis is a rather melodic song. Featuring some great leadwork. There is a very good riff at 0:26 with a country flavor. The vision of sodomizing a goat is brought before the listener.

Track 3 Gazing At the Blasphemous Moon While Perched Atop A Very Very Very Very Very Very Very Forsaken Slope of the Northern Mountain is a traditional BM type song. Nothing very interesting here. Short, aggressive and sweet.

Track 4 Bloodlustfully Praising Satans Unholy Allmightyness In the Woods At Midnight is the first highlight of the album. A highly melodic intro riff with some blazing fast blast beats leads into a double bass section. The track fools listeners by stopping abruptly at 0:38, only to be subjected to a barrage of bloodlustful praises for satan.

Track 5 Nocturnal Cauldrons Aflame Amidst the Northern Hellwitch's Perpetual Blasphemy shows us how flawless the rhythm guitar is in this album. Fast, aggressive and intense, what more could you ask for?

Track 6 Transfixing the Forbidden Blasphemous Incantations of the Conjuring Wintergoat opens with some really eerie synths, while the incantations are spoken. The utter chaos the conjuration of the wintegoat brings about is highlighted in the next section with ultra fast drumming and tight riffage.

Track 7 Masturbating on the Unholy Inverted Tracks of the Grim & Frostbitten Necrobobsledders starts with some scary synth, supposedly hinting an unholy arousal and subsequent clutching at a necro crotch. The monkey is spanked at a very fast pace after the intro. The song ends with a prayer to Satan for stopping this premature necroejaculation disability.

Track 8 Awaiting the Blasphemous Abomination of the Necroyeti While Sailing On the Northernmost Fjord of Xzfgiiizmtsath is nothing special. Only highlight of the song are the great vocals.

Track 9 Lustfully Worshiping the Inverted Moongoat While Skiing Down the Inverted Necromountain of Necrodeathmortem is the best song here. With a rolling double bass intro to one of the best black metal riffs in existence, this song is highly atmospheric. Check the synth backing at 0:33. One can almost feel the lustful worship.

Track 10 Awaiting the Frozen Blasphemy of the Necroyeti's Lusting Necrobation upon the Altar Of Vuxrfszzzisnzf is the band's attempt in writing a ballad for the radio. We start off slow with a very alternative and predictable riff and rock tinged drums , a tad commercial perhaps? Fuck no, the song explodes into black metal fury at 0:32. The way the intro builds up tension is symbolic of the eternal longing in the mind of the listener for the thawing and awakening of the Necroyeti.

Track 11 Summoning the Unholy Frozen Winterdemons to the Grimmest And Most Frostbitten Inverted Forest of Abazagorath is another weak song in this otherwise perfect album.

Track 12 Entranced By The Northern Impaled Necrowizard's Blasphemous Incantation Amidst the Agonizing Abomination of the Necrocorpse is also nothing to write home about.

Trac 13 Grim and Frostbitten Gay Bar is the 2nd best song in the album. The song portrays the short yet epic encounter of 2 necrohomos in the only bar catering exclusively to necrohomosexuals this side of the necromountain. The way the synths open up the song describes the doubt in the mind of one of the necrogays before approaching his target. The object of his desire agrees to a quickie, in the next section. He is left again feeling lonely in the end.

There my fellow sub humans. Impaled Northern Moonforest - Impaled Norhtern Moonforest is an album only to be enjoyed by the most elite of the followers of the black arts.

Sharing discoveries. Part 1

I seem to have too much of spare time these days. Well, keeping good things to yourself is a sin, as the bible says. I am here just to share some of the stuff I had found this year and which I found too awesome to keep to myself. Some of them might be too mainstream and most of you might know about it but whatever.

Be Persecuted - Chinese depressive black metal band. I have a very soft spot for this band. Very emotional music. The razor sharp production might be a turn off but once you look past it, tasteful synths and mournful riffs galore. The vocalist is a female by the way.

Darkestrah - Amazing band from Kyrgyzstan. Epos is 33:33 minutes of pure ear candy. An album/track that must be heard to be believed. The whole shamanic vibe they give off is also extraordinary. Also, the vocalist is a female.

Deceased - Does this band rule or what? I've heard only Fearless Undead Machines and the drumming in it can only be described as 'fresh'. The vocals are just brilliant like the guitar riffs. Thrash done right.

Equilibrium - Reminds me of a more folkier Wintersun with a better non overpolished production. Great folk melodies run all over the place with just the right amount of blastbeats.

Fejd - Scandinavian folk music with a distinct nature vibe. Very metallic, very good. Available for free download http://www.fejd.se/

Grip Inc. - In a world where groove is abused, we have Grip Inc. standing true to thrash. Very tasteful groove metal without the whole Machine Head pretentiousness. Songwriting is actually very good and drums are handled by none other than the mighty Dave Lombardo. Very catchy songs and finally, a non sucky vocalist for groove. I like it better than Glamtera anyway.

Klabautamann - Another mindfucking band. Klabautamann takes the acoustics of Agalloch and Opeth and adds a hefty amount of melodic atmospheric solid as fuck black metal. The end product is nothing but unbelievable. Der Ort is a masterpiece and the song October is such a what the fuck piece of work.

Of the Wand and the Moon - What's up with neofolk possibly being the best music genre in existence. Very addictive stuff. I've yet to hear Saturnus.

Jesus no, I was just clearing out my sent items folder on my email when I noticed this gem stored as an attachment.

This is recorded through my friend's cheap mp3 player in my bedroom during a very frostbitten day. I played the guitar and he did the vocals. Time spent, roughly 10 minutes.
