Most everyone is in agreement that 2007 was a pretty remarkable year for new records. It was also a great year for live music in the city of Boston. I caught probably between 50 and 60 sets this year, mostly thanks to moving within walking distance of the Middle East.

I brought my camera along for roughly 25% of those gigs, and these are some of my favorite photos of the year.

A Place to Bury Strangers- APTBS is impossibly, unreasonably, epically, titanically, atomic-bomb-in-a-shoe-box LOUD. On a related note, they are also pretty fucking awesome. This was a skull-crushing, face melting set that left my ears ringing for days:

Celebration: I think this guy is only a touring member of Celebration, but he's pretty good at multi-tasking. On this song he played a guitar, a synthesizer, two keyboards, a tambourine and a cymbal attached to a piece of plywood.
katrina of celebration plays drums with various items...

Vampire Weekend: This was a special show because it was a benefit for the deceased Ra Ra Riot drummer John Pike. This is a shot of Wesley of Ra Ra Riot thanking Vampire Weekend after finishing their (fantastic) set. It really sums up the night qutie nicely:

Ra Ra Riot took the stage after Vampire Weekend and played a frantic and emotional set in memory of their friend and bandmate John:

Tokyo Police Club followed. I was really looking forward to seeing them play, they didn't disappoint. They played the entire set on the balls of their feet, which I found to be oddly adorable:
