StoneBaked Sundays - Deadboy on 26 May 2013

Location: World Headquarters

DEADBOY (Numbers):
Off the new E.P BLAQUEWERK (NMBRS25) Nova - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH2brHYyBmY
You could describe Deadboy’s music as heartache for the dancefloor. Tapping into London’s rich musical heritage from Scott Walker to early 90’s Hardcore all the way through to UK Garage and House, Deadboy’s tracks somehow still share the same sense of futuristic melancholia as the first wave of Detroit Techno by the likes of Derrick May and Juan Atkins.

Outside of Numbers, Deadboy spins R&B under the name of DJ Tearjerker and is one half of gameboy dancehall act Hyper Black Bass. (http://nmbrs.net/artists/deadboy/)

JOONIPAH (Nixwax):
Newcastle’s very own Johnny Phethean, aka Joonipah has already conquered the North East at the tender age of 19 (well 20 now), regularly spinning records for the renowned Turbulence at Digital and a staple at World Headquarters, holding down residencies for various clubnights around Newcastle. He's well known for his ability to work the crowd, having played alongside the likes of Skream, Mistajam, Scratch Perverts, Redlight, Breach, Dark Sky, Dusky, Arkist, A1 Bassline, Bok Bok, Appleblim, South London Ordnance, Paleman, Eliphino & more. But it's not just his mixing that's earned him accolades; 2011 saw the release of stuttering garage banger 'Whupah' on Triptik records, and in 2012 his vinyl debut dropped through London label Nixwax, in the shape of the Trapdoor EP, a mutated Techno/Bass hybrid receiving DJ support from the likes of Mosca, Alex Coulton, Deft & more. Having just recently released a tune with Well Rounded (the label which gave fame to Hackman and XXXY), and now playing DJ sets around the UK, expect big things from this promising young DJ.

HEDGEWALD b2b TOMB (StoneBaked/Tantrik/Serenity Sounds):
Local badlads Hedgewald and Tomb will be showing us their skills with the turntables tonight with a a mix of some funky UK Bass, House and Garage! Heads shall be nodding.

TRINITY LO-FI (StoneBaked):
Digital 8-Bit Reggae/Hip Hop crew Trinity Lo-Fi will be dropping some teaser flows from their forthcoming album with Norwegian producers Helgeland 8-Bit Squad. The crew consists of Jody Bigfoot (white Elephant) Louie Zico (StoneBaked/Serenity) and vocals LadyRoobz.

THE CURATOR:
Hold tight for a carefully curated selection of heavy bass music from 'ghetto method' and 'R45 resident', The Curator.
Pushing the darker and deeper 'D'n'B' influenced 4 to the floor bass music, you can expect some serious bass-weight!
HEAVY BASSY HOUSEY BUSINESS!

Good Music. Good Vibes. Bank Holiday Business.
