Remember good times from the past: using Scatter.FM, I'm reminded of parties where my iPod DJ’d, study sessions leading up to exams, late night hacking sessions, roadtrips, holidays (sparse areas on the graph), and times overseas (the graph is time-shifted).

Scatter.FM extracts the list of songs you’ve listened to from Last.fm’s
servers, and plots every song on a scatterplot, so you can see how your
listening habits evolve over time.

Scatter.FM plots every song in a Last.fm user’s account as a dot in a graph, plotted by days (x-axis) and time of day (y-axis).

You can hover over any point to see information about the song, the exact time you listened to it, and album art. The graph will show you other times you played the same song by flashing the other dots of the same song.

Your top artists are assigned distict colors so they stand out, and you can
filter the displayed data by artist, album, and track using the ‘Filter
Songs’ box at the top.

RAMA (Relational Artists MAps) is a web application for visualizing and interacting with networks of music artists. It emphasizes commonalities as well as main differences between artists.

RAMA fosters the creation and listening of personalized playlists through the use of the YouTube API.

RAMA has been tested successfully with the following web browsers: Firefox 4.0 or greater (NOTE: it currently does not work on Firefox 8.0.1) and Google Chrome 15 or greater. It also works on Safari with the exception of the playlist upload which will only work when version 5.1 comes out.

Using Last.fm event data and Google maps, this website plots the current tour of your selected artists across a map of the world.

Find artists on bandcamp similar to artist you already like. Soon with Spotify and emusic integration.

Enter your Last.fm username or any band you like, and we'll search for similar bands on Bandcamp for you. Hopefully you'll find some awesome new music, and it'll be free or cheap. And you'll be able to listen to it for free.

scroblr is a lightweight browser extension for Chrome and Safari that scrobbles the music you listen to on the web.

Chrome: Music Plus is an extension for Google Music that adds popup controls, HTML5 notifications, Last.fm scrobbling and bios, song downloading, global keyboard shortcuts, and lyrics to Google's nascent cloud-based music player. Basically it takes Google's pretty cool web-based music player and makes it awesome.

Note: You need to have a Google Music account to use this extension. Currently Google Music is in beta and only available in the United States. If you're not seeing an enabled feature in your Google Music tab, try refreshing your Google Music tab.

What is xmp-scrobbler?

It's a plugin for XMPlay (http://www.un4seen.com/xmplay.html). It lets you "join the social music revolution at Last.fm" with your favourite music player.

OK, so what do I do now?

Download xmp-scrobbler (link below) and copy it to XMPlay directory. Xmp-scrobbler is a DSP plugin so go to the options and add it there, then click Config, enter your username and password and tick Enable plugin checkbox. And that's all! Now just listen to your favorite music like you always do - nothing's changing, xmp-scrobbler works in background and will not bother you with popup windows, dialog box messages etc.

This plugin doesn't work / it crashed XMPlay / froze my system / ate my sandwich

There are still occasional issues with cache corruptions and mid-track crashes, but these can be solved by deleting the xmp-scrobbler.cache file.

What is it?

Level up! How addicted are you to music? This page calculates your last.fm level and gives you a badge for your profile.

How it works:

Your Last.fm level is based on your Last.fm profile and it depends on many parameters. If you listen to a lot of music the level increases. If you cheat, your rating falls. Pause iTunes when you leave home or go to bed :-)

Once you have your level you can generate a badge for your profile and compare your level against other Last.fm users.

Although Amazon Cloud Player has a ton of awesomeness to it already, it’s still lacking a few features. One of the features I find crucial in any music players is the ability to Last.fm Scrobble. So here you have it, brand new and released exactly one week after Amazon Cloud Player hit the market.

If you haven’t experienced it yet, Google Music Beta (http://music.google.com/) is pretty awesome and was recently released to an undisclosed number of people as a trial beta period. One of the features I find crucial in any music players is the ability to Last.fm Scrobble, and thus the reason for this script.

the world, and in more than 200 metro areas.

Stereomood is the emotional internet radio, providing music that best suits your mood and your activities.

How do I feel? What am I doing now?

A map of the favorite music of Last.fm listeners. Circles to the right of the map have more plays per listener. The Y axis shows chronology, with the oldest tracks at the top of the chart. The larger the circle, the more plays the artist has received.

Check out which new artists you found during a given year. Just fill in your username and a year that you have something scrobbled. Try also your friends' usernames!

What is Last.fm Memories?

Last.fm Memories is a Facebook app that allows you to check out what your current top artists and tracks are and memorialize them for posterity on your Facebook profile. This app can post either weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual summaries to your profile. Summaries can also be posted on-demand.

How do I use it?

Go to our Facebook app. Then all you need to is give the app permission to post to your profile and optionally permission to view your friends lists (if you want posts to appear only to a specific list) and enter a Last.fm username to get stats about. From there, you can either post manually or wait for a specific time period to end for a posting to be made to your profile.

Tweekly.fm provides users with the ability to post their Last.fm music data and statistics to popular social media sites Twitter and Facebook. Users can select a day to automatically publish their play data or publish ad-hoc when they wish to.

MusicBee is an application geared toward managing extensive music collections,
easy to use and with a comprehensive feature set. It makes it easy to organize,
find and play music files on your computer, on portable devices, and on the web.
It provides playback of a wide range of audio formats, smart playlists with the
ability to discover and play new music from the web, advanced tag editing with
automated artwork and tag lookup, folder monitoring, automated file
re-organisation, portable device synchronisation, and secure CD ripping with
AccurateRip verification.

The Last.fm Scrobble Fetcher & Mapper does exactly that. It fetches all your scrobbles from your (or anyone’s, really) Last.fm account, assembles them in terms of Play Count and Date Last Played for each music track, and then exports this data to either Windows Media Player 11 or iTunes.

I’ve been working on this application on and off for some time now and I think it’s ready for deployment. I built it because I have quite an extensive music library, I like my playlists smart and automatic, and I have poor luck with music players, hardware failure and vendor lock-in.

It seems that the “Play Count” and “Date Last Played” metadata fields are not part of a file’s ID3 tags, but rather is stored in the player’s local library. This is usually fine, and probably more efficient than writing to files all the time, but it means that if your player’s database gets corrupted (as happened to me with Windows Media Player) or that you decide/are forced to use another player such as iTunes because your iPhone doesn’t want to sync with anything else, then you’re screwed. And same thing of course if you reinstall your machine or get a new one.

I feel that this metadata is important because I like to have automatic “best-of” playlists that are based upon it, and sometimes it’s nice to listen to a comfortable, time-proven playlist.

Thankfully, if like me you’ve been using the Last.fm services since they were called Audioscrobbler, you’ve gathered an impressive amount of playback information in your account over the years. And using their web services, and my application, now you can take it back home!

aTunes is a full-featured audio player and manager, developed in Java programming language, so it can be executed on different platforms: Windows, Linux and Unix-like systems, ...
Currently plays mp3, ogg, wma, wav, flac, mp4 and radio streaming, allowing users to easily edit tags, organize music and rip Audio CDs.

This mashup shows you what's currently playing on radio stations and provides you with some more information on the artist and allows you to play youTube movies of the song. The most important feature though is the artist locator. We try to guess where the artist originates from. This is done by using different data sources, like Last.fm, freebase and Wikipedia. We also analyze the biography, because this is a great source of geo-graphical data. When we are unable to find the location of the artist, the marker is put at the location of the radio station, e.g. if it's a song played by BBC Radio, the marker will be on London, UK.

A little application to rank your favourite artists and albums by an estimation of how long you have spent listening to them.
The form takes your last.fm username, gets the lists of your favourite artists or albums and estimates the time you have spent listening to each of them based on track length data taken from Musicbrainz. A java based app for quick multi tagging. Currently you can tag multiple items from similar artist, top tracks and top albums lists and there's a free form tagger which takes in a list of artists separated by newlines.

It should hopefully work on multiple Operating systems however I've developed and tested it on windows so that's the platform I'd most recommend using it on. I have tested it on ubuntu linux as well and with the execption of a few small GUI issues everything works. Results may vary elsewhere.

wallpaperfm.py is a Python script that generates some wallpapers from your
last.fm music profile. It makes 3 types of wallpapers: the "tile" one and the
glassy one like in Gijsco's app and the random collage, like the bash script I
wrote earlier.

What it adds to the current wallpaper apps are:
. it runs on linux, so linux people can at last have the tile and glassy
effects.
. it probably runs on Mac and windows as well but I haven't had it tested on
these platforms yet.
. it's much faster than the bash script and does more things.

Last.fm Artists is a Wordpress plugin that allows for user to display images of their top listened to artists on their blog.

It can be used as a widget or plugin allowing users to put it in blog posts or in their layout. It downloads the images from Last.fm, resizes them, and stores a local copy for a week.

This is an application which downloads your playcounts for every track on your Last.fm profile and compares them with the playcounts in Windows Media Player, updating the playcounts in WMP for any track with a lower playcount than Last.fm.

DRM protected tracks are not updated by default, but this is configurable as an option.

This program searches for id3 tags for the currently selected track in iTunes using the Last.FM XML service. In more basic terms, it will update the information for the selected tracks in iTunes (searches artist, song title, genre, comments tag). It'll tell you what it found, and lets you edit and either save or discard the changes. Just extract the .zip file to a location of your choice and run the standalone .exe file. Requires .NET Framework 2.0

This cool web app displays all your Last.fm friends sorted by the Taste-o-meter score. Just submit your username to see all your friends compared.

It also calculates your personal "friendscore", providing an average taste match amongst you and your friends.

LastfmProxy does this by acting as a player itself, connecting to the server on your behalf, but instead of playing the stream, it simply relays it to whichever other application connecting to it.

From version 0.2 on It'sGotTheVibez should support ANY operating system which provides a standards compliant Python installation / for which Python has been ported. LastCollage is a bash script that generates a collage of album covers from your last.fm profile. It differs from other album artwork generators in as much as it uses a little more artistic license (see image left). Exaile is a music player aiming to be similar to KDE's Amarok, but for GTK+ and written in Python. It incorporates many of the cool things from Amarok (and other media players) like automatic fetching of album art, handling of large libraries, lyrics fetching, artist/album information via Wikipedia, Last.fm submission support, and optional iPod support via a plugin.

iPodScrobbler allows you to scrobble your iPod, whether connected via Windows PC or Mac. The script is designed for people who prefer more fine-grained control over what gets scrobbled and is extendable.

lastfmsubmitd is a replacement for the traditional Last.fm plugin model. Instead of re-implementing networking and caching code in each plugin, player plugins can simply send song information to the daemon, which will take care of the rest.

Quod Libet is a GTK+-based audio player written in Python. It's designed around the idea that you know better than we do how to organize your music. dbPowerAMP Audioscrobbler Plugin is an applications which uses the dbPowerAMP scripting interface to obtain details of the currently playing track, and submit them to Last.fm.

It is implemented with MySQL, and PHP. It allows you to view, edit, and play your audio files via the web. It has support for playlists, artist and album views, album art, random play, playback via Http/On the Fly Transcoding and Downsampling, Vote based playback, Mpd and Icecast, Integrated Flash Player, as well as per user themes and song play tracking. You can also Link multiple Ampache servers togeather using XML-RPC. Ampache supports GETTEXT translations and has a full translation of many languages.

Amarok has full support for last.fm streams. This includes advanced features known from the last.fm player, like skip/love/ban, cover images and metadata.

It is a separate application and shares some similarities with iScrobbler for Mac OS X. Songs can be played repeatedly, pausing is allowed, MBIDs are submittted and iPod played songs are supported, including iPod shuffle played and multiple played songs. Manually updated iPods are also supported as well as Motorola iTunes phones.

As you listen to music on your device, MobileScrobbler sends the title, artist, and album to Last.fm. This information is then used to suggest new music, new friends, concerts, and events based on the music you enjoy.

Everything sent by this extension goes directly to the Last.fm servers and nowhere else.

It supports caching of the track data if the AudioScrobbler submission server is down or having issues.

It works in Firefox and Flock, and can probably be made to work in other Gecko browsers.

The code is Javascript and XUL, and uses XMLHttpRequest to send the data to the Audioscrobbler servers.

Well, this project is under heavy development and the feature list will grow.

I wrote it in C# so you need the .NET 2.0 Framework. I was only able to test it with the 3.1.8.4(DE) german version of Napster. I would like to get some feedback from other localized versions of the client.

A musical tag cloud is a textual depiction of a music listener's profile and his musical preferences, by visualizing the collection of common tags for a user's top artists. Based on the data from musical social networking service Last.fm, we can automatically generate such tag clouds. Here's a preliminary data mining analysis of a large sample of such tag clouds.

This site collects the data from Last.fm alias Audioscrobbler, downloads the Album arts and sticks them together in one Image.

The generated image will then be saved for at least 21 days and after that either be deleted or, if still in use, be refreshed.

The size of your images is limited to a maximum of 30 albums.

After getting your Top 50 albums, MoneyCalc ask's the Amazon API how much the discs are at the moment. It not only takes the official Amazon price, but also includes offers for used discs by third parties.

This visualization represents the user relations of the involved ones and analyses are provided over existing social relations.

All you need is your username on last.fm and select type of certificate you want.

LastGraph is based on Lee Byron's Last.fm Wavegraphs. I saw the page on them in early 2007 (along with a reasonable amount of other internet users), and decided I wanted similar graphs for myself. Lacking access to Lee's source code, and with a healthily small amount of free time, I made a render for myself.

Spurred on by the good reception it got from those I showed it to, I developed it into a web service, in order to bring pretty graphs of music history to the masses. After a sudden popularity boom, the code was rewritten and slightly optimised, to bring us where we are today.
